Whether I’m feeling run down, stressed or like I desperately need to unwind, I always find the smell of Lavender so soothing. There’s just something about it that leaves me feeling oh so calm and (somewhat) collected. Whenever I’ve had ‘one of those days’, I always crave an almighty pamper. A lovely, candle lit bath, with a face mask on, treating myself to my favourite body wash or scrub, then getting into a clean bed (with clean PJs of course!). I mean you just can’t beat it can you? Nope, didn’t think so. Now, it’s no secret that I love a good high street store, but there’s nothing quite like discovering a new small business, that transform your life with their beautiful handmade treasures.
Using traditional techniques with a modern twist, the husband and wife duo behind Divine and Handmade ensures that every product is personal and completely unique. So when the lovely Natalia got in touch with me, asking if I would like to try a few of their products, of course I leapt at the chance. One of my favourite things about shopping small, is finding out people’s stories. I just find it so enticing; discovering who they are, where they’ve come from, when they started their journey and why.
Divine and Handmade’s vision is to bring their customers their staple cosmetic favourites, but with a contemporary and handmade twist. Their love for creating handmade products began when their pursuit for a healthier lifestyle led to them making natural cosmetics that they could use at home. One of their aims, which they believe is of utmost importance, is to help their customers discover harmony between nature and modern life with their nature inspired products.
For me, you just can’t beat the personal touches when shopping small. There’s something so special about opening up a package, that has been lovingly wrapped, complete with a little message, just for you. Seeing the care and passion that has been poured into the products right before your very eyes – it really is the little things that count.
So you can imagine my excitement when I came home after a hectic day at work to a little package, carefully wrapped in brown paper. I could smell Lavender as soon as I picked it up and just knew that I was in for a real treat. When I opened it, I was greeted by a pretty little white box. Inside was a Signature Wooden Wick Lavender Candle and Pure Joy Soap.
My first impressions of the products were really positive – beautifully packaged and not to mention the candle smelling absolutely sensational. Both products are free from animal based ingredients and are cruelty free, which is a big thumbs up from me. The Pure Joy soap is unscented and can be used as a makeup remover (which is another big thumbs up from me!). It’s fresh products contain antibacterial properties and is completely safe for dry skin or skin that is susceptible to irritation and allergies. I also love the names of the different soaps (Pure Charm, Pure Sensation, Pure Vibe and of course Pure Joy) – anyone else just smile at their names alone? Pure happy vibes right here!
Now, anyone who knows me, will know that I’m a proper worry wart – I tend to overthink pretty much anything. I recently wrote a blog post all about my life lessons for overthinking (which you can read about it here). Everyone has different methods of coping when the going gets tough but one of the things that I find beneficial is simply taking time out. I must admit that I have to be in the mood for a bath (I’m a shower gal through and through). But when I do, I really go to town (as I mentioned earlier). I’m talking mood lighting, a cheeky glass of wine and maybe even a chick flick on my laptop – the works. And these beauties are the perfect pamper night additions.
