The last twelve months have been a rollercoaster to say the least. When I first sat down to write this post I couldn’t help but focus on the lows & initially thought that my year had been pretty ‘meh’. But on reflection, I realised that there were some amazing highlights and so many things that I loved about 2017.
The Banter Brigade
Not only was 2017 the year that the Banter Brigade was born, it was also the year that we went on not one, not two but three city breaks together. Getting to see the beautiful sights of Edinburgh, Belfast & Budapest with three of my favourite gals was amazing. I can’t wait for more adventures, many a banter and all of the seshs that 2018 will bring.
Passing My Driving Test
I only went and passed my bloody driving test didn’t I?! Honestly I can’t even begin to explain how much of a relief it is! Yes it’s better late than never but I’m just so flipping proud of myself. When I first started driving the day that I’d have a lesson would be written off because I’d got myself so worked up with nerves & now here I am. I feel like the biggest weight has been lifted off of my shoulders!
Confidence
2017 was the year that I took Oh So Mint to another level. My confidence has grown massively over the past 6 months & I feel like I’m finally starting to believe in myself. I’ve started to work with brands on both my blog and my Instagram & I’ve recently worked on my first sponsored blog post (which you can read here). I’ve got a list of ideas as long as my arm & I feel so inspired right now. I honestly can’t wait to see what 2018 has in store for Oh So Mint.
The Year Of Friendship
I feel like 2017 was the year of friendship for me. I made so many memories with some of my oldest friends & feel so lucky to have them in my life. On another note, I made some of the BEST friends through this wonderful online world & I’m incredibly thankful to each and every one of them. Those absolute gems are definitely one of the very best things to come out of 2017.
Surprises
I decided to have a small gathering (sesh) with close friends at the Minter-Monk abode for my birthday in March. Little did I know that Joe and my parents had been plotting behind my back for my clan to come down and surprise me. Spending my birthday with all (bar my brother Jonah who sadly had to work) of my favourite people in one room was just amazing. Not to mention my Dad reenacting the Gavin & Stacey episode when Bryn shouts “Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!” at Gwyn’s surprise Barn dance – pinnacle life moment right there.
Upping My Game
Over the past year I’ve really been trying to up my game when it comes to taking photos. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve still got a lot to learn but I feel like I’m making progress (slowly but surely).
My Beautiful Best Boy
Speaking of photos, one of my favourite things to come out of 2017 are the photos that I managed to get of my beautiful best boy Romeo. Losing him honestly broke my heart and I miss him every day but I’m so thankful to have the memories & photos of him that I do. It’s the little things like that that I will always treasure.
Le Monk
Unfortunately Joe & I didn’t get to go away together, but that didn’t stop us going on adventures. Our day out at Hampton Court for my birthday and our trip to Kew Gardens for our anniversary always make me smile whenever I think of them. But (forgive me… soppy incoming) I loved the little things with the Le Monk. Spending another year together in our home, watching Game of Thrones & Peaky Blinders together, picking our Christmas tree together as it started to snow, to name but a few. Basically, he’s alright.
The Clan
Spending quality time with my clan, both the Minters and the Monks. I’m so grateful to have the most amazing, supportive people around me who never fail to make me smile.
That Time My Living Room Was Projected Onto A Wall In Ikea
One of the biggest highlights of the year definitely has to be seeing a photo of my living room projected onto a wall in Ikea as I was leaving after a shopping trip with my friend Madison. I had no idea about it & it honestly blew my mind.
Project House To Home
I know I’m a bit of a broken record about it, but I’m so happy with the progress that we have made with the flat. We’ve still got a way to go (damn you money/ time) but it’s really starting to come together. In 2018 I plan to get a wiggle on & finally finish decorating as there are some exciting things in store at the Minter-Monk abode. Watch this space!
Taking A Leap Of Faith
I took a leap of faith and got a new job. Yep I left Mammoth after 3 years there and will be starting a new job in Marketing in January. As sad as I am to have left behind some absolute gemstones, I’m so so SO excited to start this next chapter. Here’s to fresh starts & new adventures.
What did you love about 2017?
