Dare I say it (fingers crossed not *too* prematurely), but I have a feeling that spring has sprung and I am most definitely here for it. The mornings are light and the days are bright, complete with a gentle breeze. I’m a spring baby, so I’ve always loved everything that this wonderful season brings – the birds singing, the flowers blooming and the return of the beautiful magnolia and cherry blossom trees. The start of the year has been… eventful shall we say, but that’s a story for another day. For now, I’ve decided to set myself a few goals for the month ahead. So, today I’m sharing five things for my April to do list.
Kick-start operation what-the-hell-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life | It’s got a ring to it, right? In all seriousness, the past month has been a bit of a blur, so I need to have a sit down and start thinking about getting my ducks in a row. I haven’t actually mentioned this on here, but if you follow me on Instagram, you may know that a month ago today (seriously, where has time gone?), I was unfortunately made redundant. It was completely unexpected and to be honest, it’s knocked me for six. I plan on going into more detail about this soon, as I’ve realised over the last few weeks that being made redundant is kind of a taboo subject and isn’t spoken about anywhere near enough and I had such an amazing response from my post on taking a leap of faith. At the minute I’m still processing everything and still have days where I have a bit of a wobble, but on the whole I’m starting to feel like this could have been a blessing in disguise.
Any way, back to the task in hand. Last month I decided to give myself a proper break from everything, and so I booked an impulse trip to Bali (which was amazing) and took some time out to focus on myself, which did me the world of good. I’m still mulling it over (and tackling a hell of a lot of imposter syndrome too), but I’ve decided to be picky about what I want to do. I’ve found a job that would be *the dream* that I’m applying for and I’m constantly keeping my eyes peeled for vacancies, but I’m in a really fortunate position in that I can afford to be a little picky and focus on finding the perfect opportunity for me. So, I’ve decided that while I’m looking for the one, I’m going to take the chance to concentrate on some other exciting ventures – including a few freelance opportunities and my little spaces in this online world too. To say that I’m nervous is an understatement, and the amount of times a day that I have to hush those niggly little voices in my head telling me that I’m ‘not enough’ is a little overwhelming, but you never know if you don’t try, right? Every cloud and all that. So, watch this space guys and gals and here’s to new adventures.
The Oh So Mint facelift | It’s no secret that I have been neglecting this little space. In all honesty, there are a lot of niggly things that I’m not happy with and more often than not I let that cloud my vision. Over the next few weeks I would like to focus on those things and tidy Oh So Mint up a bit, starting with a bit of a facelift. I love writing and love being creative, so I plan to create a space that fits the bill and that I feel proud to share with you. I’ve got a lot of ideas bubbling away in the background so I’m exciting to get this ball rolling!
Winter is here | Guys and gals, it’s the time that we’ve all been waiting for (and if you haven’t been… well, we need to sort that). Yep, Game of Thrones is finally back and I have been waiting for this moment for what feels like forever. I’m genuinely not sure how I’m going to cope I’m that excited.
Dust Collector Detox | Anyone who knows me, is fully aware that I love a pretty ornament, or a dust collector as Joe likes to call them. However, I think I’ve taken it one step too far. Not in that I’ve got too many pretty ornaments (I mean is that even possible?). Oh no, I simply have too much stuff. Stuff that I don’t use, stuff that is no longer my taste, stuff that’s just slowly becoming honorary dust collectors. I confess that my cupboards are full to the brim of stuff. Sadly, the cupboards are overflowing and the sea of stuff is beginning to take over the little room too (which Joe has proudly nicknamed my ‘Monica cupboard’). It’s all too much. An almighty spring clean and dust collector detox is desperately needed. Marie Kondo, watch out!
Seasonal home updates | A new season calls for new home accessories, am I right? I’m exciting to tuck away the chunky throws and make way for lighter colours and softer textures. You just can’t beat a deep spring clean, and a little reshuffle to give your home a new lease of life. What are your top tips for making your home feel refreshed for a new season?
